Samaria (Crete)

The Cretans have a saying "Who has not seen the gorge of Samaria, he had not seen Crete". It is better to go in Sumaru for a few days, because the gorge itself is located in the southern part of the island and the road to it tiresome. By bus you drive from Heraklion to the very picturesque village of Loutro, which is famous for its clear sea, and then by ferry to the Samaria. There are several small hotels, which for a modest fee will provide you with "bread and shelter". But all the difficulties of the road you will forget when you enter the reserve. Left and right you are surrounded by mountains covered with pine trees and juniper, mountain air on the smell of the flowers and it can be drunk in gulps.
